We moved to Austin and we love this town!!
Austin is so beautiful, green and welcoming.. Everyone we meet tells us that this is the right place for Latika to be in!

We also opened a new factory in Austin, we are so excited about it!
Its not easy doing all these things on our own, far from our family and friends, but we make new friends every day, we get to meet some wonderful people and build a little family over here.
Wish us luck!!

Click here to see pictures of our new Austin manufacturing facility. Pretty soon you'll be able to come and shop for soaps as we will set up a store front.

Well, that is not all- the best part is this: Latikasoap.com is ONLINE!!! Yey!
After working hard to create this beautiful website we can finally invite everyone to click here and Visit Latikasoap's official website and online shop!!

Here is a snap shot of the site:

The site is very visual, the photos are all taken by Erez Peled (the one and only) some of the best pics on the website are the ones styled by Lital mor, our dear friend.

We met Lital after she purchased soaps from us and was the winner of our first blog giveaway. She received a big box of soaps from us and sent us the most beautiful photo album with gorgeous pictures of our soaps! Click on the picture to see more.

We were amazed by her talent and asked her to do be in charge of styling our photo shoot. Well, needless to say we are too happy with the result!  Thank you Lital!! Here is a link to her blog, where she posts beautiful pictures and DIY projects: http://little-wheel.blogspot.com/

We have some "behind the scenes" photos from when ever we take pictures of our soaps, you can see them on our Facebook page here.

DIY "Cute as a button" Baby shower - part 2

Hi everyone!
This is part 2 of the Cute as a button post
For part 1 click here :)  |  Downloads page

I found so many ideas online, you can see it all here and more on my Pinterest board called "cute as a button" which I made just for this post :)

Part 1 was about
This time I will talk about
  • Button sweets
  • Some games
  • Party favors

Sweets

Button cookies! So easy to make!
Games
Basically, any baby shower game would be great - and even better when you add some buttons in to it :) here are some sources for regular shower games, and some ideas for button themed games:

Guess how many buttons in the jar, the winner gets a pretty gift! Fill a jar with old buttons of all sizes, put little notes next to it, during the party everyone can guess and the winner will be announced at the end. Simple and cute.

Lotto-button Diy

Scratch off on the back of button cards the guests receive. When they scratch the card they find cute prizes, or "truth or dare" style assignments :) You can make it yourself using one of these great tutorials :
Use a large paper punch to make the cards.

You can choose to have an activity as well- Make beautiful button crafts such as
Fabric earrings, Vintage button earrings, hair accessories or sawing.
I found some great tutorials on button creations, the materials are not hard to find and the results are personal and lovely and i think any girl would like to have a cute button hair piece or jeweler.

Party favors My favorite part!

Endless possibilities here.. DIY or buy them ready, or buy little gifts and make cute button packaging..

Our button soaps- we first made them as vintage soaps, or soaps for kids but as it turns out a lot of our customers buy the buttons for "Cute as a button" baby shower favors, that is also what inspired this post.

The button soap is the first soap I designed, and made the mold for. Later on Erez upgraded the design to what it is today- almost 3D button, very round and chubby, very cute!

For baby showers we make them in pastel colors, and pleasant scents. The best Sellers are blue and pink obviously , blue with ocean scent and pink with strawberry scent.

We shrink wrap each button and that allows you to place them in any type of package you like. Here are some ideas, and printable tags I usually Email anyone who buys our buttons.

Button favor packaging:

Glue some button on the bag
Stamp buttons on paper or muslin bag
Make button tags
Wrap a matchbox with a beautiful paper and glue a big button on top
Use custom tags with clear cello bags

Les Petites Présents   Thoughtful Day  Cobblestone rue

Make Bobby pins for your guests - glue a big button on a pin and a round piece of felt on the back.

The nice thing about these DIY button accessories is that you present them on a piece of paper and you can print a cute message on it and customize everything. It's a cute touch and a sweet gift. I love button earrings.

How real food inspired my soap-making

I was never good at baking or cooking, but i do love great deserts!
My passion for soap making has always been around, but my love for designed glycerin soap was ignited the minute i realized i can make it look like a cupcake!

Today, with Pinterest around, i realize that a lot of the inspiration foods I'm pinning, are already in my soap line.. I wanted to compare and so i just ran through the photos in my inspiration board and my soap photos. I have so many more amazing deserts and foods to make out of soap!

People do make the most amazing things in their kitchens, I'm still learning.. in the meantime i share my experiments in soap baking on Latika's Facebook page in the album "Live from our lab" and a lot of photos are taken with Instegram and uploaded there- you are welcome to join us!

Photo credits and links (a few of them would have recipes):

And this one is amazing, when i made the soap i had no idea there is such a cake in the world :)

My next post would be part 2 of the "cute as button party" post.

Enjoy the weekend!

DIY "Cute as a button" Baby shower

Hi everyone!
We've been receiving a lot of orders for our very sweet button soaps lately. A lot, if not all of them, are for baby showers..
This got me thinking about the "Cute as a button" baby shower theme. I found so many ideas online, you can see it all here and more on my Pinterest board called "cute as a button" which I made just for this post :)  Downloads page with all the posts printables

What do I need for a cute as a button baby shower?
  • Color scheme
  • Invitations
  • Decorations
  • Refreshments
  • Some games
  • Party favors
Color scheme
When I want to be inspired by color, I always find myself browsing through the design seeds blog. I wrote about it before here.
These are a few of the color combinations I love, find yours and design the whole party with the colors of your choice. I recommend choosing 1-3 colors, to make it is easier to coordinate everything..

Invitations
You can buy custom made invitations online, or you can make them yourself!
Here are a few ideas for DIY cute as a button invitations:
  • Glue real button on the invite
  • Use a button stamp
  • Use a circle paper punch to make cute buttons
  • Make a very large button as an invite
You will find examples of these ideas on my "cute as a button" Pinterest board.

I made some A5 printable files for you to use, download and edit with any software, from word to Photoshop. Enjoy! Pdf , Doc . Jpeg files on the downloads page

Decorations
Wow! There are so many options with Button theme.. Choose from this list, and check out how it looks- I collected examples and photos from all around the web and pinned it to Pinterest.

Make a banner - cut circles or attache real buttons to a bunting flag banner. Hang vertically or horizontally.

Garland- Hang real buttons on a string to make a button garland.

Big buttons- Use embroidery hoops as button decorations, or Hang button pinwheels.

I made a printable file for a button banner, click here to download: Blue , Pink .
Jpeg files on our Downloads page
And that's not all! Besides banners and flags, there are more decorating ideas:

Button flowers- Make flowers using buttons and felt, or decorate real flowers with little buttons. Button flowers DIY from Better Homes,

Button tree- A jar full of buttons, a few dry branches and a Circle paper punch. Punch out large circles of paper, then punch 2-4 tiny holes to make a paper button. Place the buttons on the branches and stick the Branches in to the button jar. Here's the inspiration for this- Erin From the lovely blog Double the reinsteins.

Button art- I love this because you can keep it to decorate the baby's room: Frame a large letter from the baby's name, and fill it up with buttons. Tutorial: How to make button art

Apothecary jars with vintage buttons or large chunky buttons inside, or our very own Latika soap buttons! Here are some beautiful jars filled with spools and candy:

Tune in for part 2 of this post, for the deserts, games and favors I found  all around..
